Michael D. Tarpley, Chairman of the Board, has
17 years experience in
managing the sale of hospital equipment. Over the past 17 years, he has extensively
traveled abroad having visited more than 60 international health care facilities.
He has successfully engaged in business with 178 hospitals in 14 states. Mr. Tarpley
brings to HAMI the vision and experience in this segment of the industry.
Mr. Antonio Monroig, Director, is a former Assistant Secretary
for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development,
Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (HUD) under the Reagan Administration.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the James Monroe Foundation.
He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of
Puerto Rico, U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme
Court. Education: University of Puerto Rico (B.A., 1965); Catholic University
of Puerto Rico School of Law (J.D., 1968); Harvard University (Senior Managers
of Government Certificate, 1978); Georgetown University (Executive International
Business Management Certificate, 1994). Mr. Monroig's government appointments
include the positions of Administrator of Municipal Services and Chairman of
the Board of the Solid Waste Management Authority for the Commonwealth of
Puerto Rico, and Special Assistant to the Mayor, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
His private practice has provided him a vast experience in corporate
legal consulting, international trade and investment, intellectual property, and
on issues requiring government representation at the federal and state
level. Mr. Monroig is fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and has basic
knowledge of Italian and Portuguese.
Dr. Dean Glassman, Director, is a plastic surgeon who runs a
private practice in Jacksonville, FL. He is Board Certified by
the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He currently has a teaching
appointment as a Clinical Professor with the University of Florida and
has been published in several medical journals. Dr. Glassman serves
as a consultant for Nemours Children’s Clinic, maintains ten
professional memberships and dedicates time each year on medical missions
to the West Indies and Philippines. Dr. Glassman is a 1973 graduate of
the University of Florida and received his M.D. from the Universidad de
Michoacan School; Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico
Mr. Clarence Gooden, Director, is the President and CEO of CSX
Intermodal, a $1.3 billion dollar business unit of CSX
Corporation headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. The unit
provides truck/rail transportation throughout the United
States as well as Canada and Mexico for CSX Corporation. Mr.
Gooden has held several prior senior management positions with
CSX including Senior Vice President Coal Sales/Marketing and
Operations, Vice President Transportation, Vice President
Network Operations, Vice President and General Manager CSX Intermodal
Operations. Mr. Gooden is a 1974 graduate of the University of Georgia.
He has served on the board of directors of Trailer Train Corporation,
Belt Railway of Chicago, Terminal Railway of St. Louis, Pucach and Louisville
Railway, and is currently president of the Winston/Salem Southbound Railway
